Public Art

The Arts Advisory Commission selects and maintains the inventory and documentation of the city's public art collection.

Public art for the Mountlake Terrace Library, "The Traveler," was created by local artist Georgia Gerber in 1988. Gerber, best known for her bronze sculptures, said this work illustrates a story of a young girl traveling on the back of a black bear. Accompanied by the bear's two cubs, their direction infers that they have come from the surrounding woods. The Mountlake Terrace Library is located at 23300 58th Avenue W.

The public art for Fire Station #19, "Legacy" was unveiled on November 7, 2009. A bronze sculpture, "Legacy" was created by Louise McDowell in 2008 and features a firefighter placing a helmet on a young child. Fire Station #19 is located at 5902 232nd Street SW, Mountlake Terrace.
