The Annual Mountlake Terrace Tree Lighting Ceremony features music, refreshments and a visit from Santa Claus. On the first Friday evening of December, the Terrace-Brier Lions Club presents a Tree Lighting Ceremony that includes music, treats, and a visit from Santa. Lions Club volunteers serve cocoa and cookies while children carol and families warm themselves beside a number of bonfires. The “tree” is actually a frame constructed of over 900 lights on top of the City’s water tower and is seen from miles around. The Lions Club partners with the City’s police, public works, and recreation/parks departments as well as Snohomish County Fire District 1 to put on this festive event. Don’t forget to dress warm and wear boots if the weather is wet.
