Council Awards 2010 Lodging Tax Funds |

March 3, 2010 — At their March 1 meeting, the City Council allocated nearly $25,000 in Lodging Tax Funds to non-profit organizations to help fund tourism related events and programs in 2010. |

“Citizens Academy” Begins April 14
Deadline March 12 to Apply for Police Citizens Academy |

February 26, 2010 — The City of Mountlake Terrace Police Department is hosting the Police Citizens Academy on Wednesday nights from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Avenue West. The 12-week program begins April 14 and runs through June 30 concluding with a graduation reception for all participants and their families. The deadline to apply for the Police Citizens Academy is 5 p.m. March 12. Space is limited to the first 30 people accepted, so prompt registration is recommended. |

Jim Farrand Exhibit Opens March 1 |

February 25, 2010 — The Mountlake Terrace Arts Commission presents the Jim Farrand Exhibit at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Avenue West. Farrand works in watercolors and paints big, bold, colorful shapes that are at times semi-abstract and playful. |

Council Considers Unfunded Capital Projects |

February 23, 2010 — A detailed list of yet-to-be-funded Capital Projects was presented at the City Council’s February 16 meeting. Although the Council has a $66 million capital improvement plan with funding already in place over the next six years, several additional capital projects do not yet have funding. |

Post Office to Stay in Mountlake Terrace |

February 22, 2010 — The Mountlake Terrace Post Office will stay in its current downtown location at 23210 57th Avenue West. The U.S. Postal Service announced that they recently signed a two-year lease agreement with the property owner, Calvary Fellowship Church. The Post Office has been in this location since 1967. |

Mountlake Terrace City Council Goals Focus on Future |

February 22, 2010 — The Mountlake Terrace City Council held a special work session/retreat on Saturday, February 20 at the Interim City Hall to set goals for 2010-2012. The six Council goals will remain the same as the last two years with much discussion on protecting the city’s finances, economic development, capital infrastructure needs, and community outreach. |

Survey Shows City Continues Moving in Right Direction |

January 27, 2010 —In November 2009, the city initiated its second Community Satisfaction Survey in partnership with The National Citizen Survey™ program. The first survey was conducted in 2007. Sponsored by the International City/County Management Association in cooperation with National Research Center, Inc (NCR), the survey was designed to gauge attitudes and opinions about city services and quality of life issues. The surveys compare trends and deviations that will assist the city to allocate resources, balance priorities, and set new objectives. |

Drop Off Unwanted Medications |

December 9, 2009 — Residents may now drop off unwanted or unused medications at the City of Mountlake Terrace Police Department at 5906 232nd Street SW. Secure lock boxes are available at 28 police departments located throughout Snohomish County for people to drop off unwanted vitamins, cold medicines, painkillers, inhalers and other medications.
