Terrace has a number of very active community and civic minded
organizations that partner with the City to sponsor or coordinate
various programs and events. Tour de Terrace is an annual Seafair
sanctioned summer festival that is planned and executed by local
volunteers. Funding for the event is partially offset by grant
funds received from the City.
Friends
of the Arts is a non-profit organization that coordinates
with the city’s Arts Advisory Commission to sponsor
the annual Arts of the Terrace Juried Art Show. Arts of the
Terrace takes place annually in late September/early October
in the Mountlake Terrace Library located at 23300 58th Avenue
West and includes a number of art pieces submitted by artists
from around the greater Puget Sound region.
Four
categories of art are judged including photography, calligraphy,
3-Dimensional, and PPD (paintings, prints and drawings). Children’s
Choice and People’s Choice Awards are presented at the
conclusion of the show, as attendees are invited to vote for
their favorite work of art. For more information, please contact
Judy Ryan arts@ci.mlt.wa.us.
The
Friends of the Mountlake Terrace Library is a non-profit
volunteer organization, bringing together involved, caring
people who know that a community with a first rate library
is a better place in which to live. The Friends support and
promote public awareness of the Mountlake Terrace Library’s
services and programs. Through their commitment they promote
literacy, education, and reading for all ages. Through their
generosity and volunteer activities they provide supplies,
programs, and other items that fall outside the budget of
the library.
For
more information on how to become a Friend, call (425) 776-8722

Terrace-Brier
Lions Club presents Tour de Terrace, a Seafair-sanctioned,
summer festival for Mountlake Terrace & neighboring communities.
This festival was created to generate community pride and
spirit. We invite families, businesses and visitors to celebrate
in this family oriented, fun-filled festival.
Terrace-Brier
Lions Club also hosts the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony
at Evergreen Playfield on the first Friday evening in December.
Lions Club volunteers serve cocoa and cookies while children
carol and families warm themselves beside a number of bonfires.
The “tree” is actually a frame constructed of
over 900 lights on top of the City’s water tower and
is seen from miles around. The tree lighting is followed by
a visit from Santa Claus, who arrives on a fire truck and
stops for pictures. The Tree Lighting is a partnership with
the City’s police, public works, and recreation/parks
departments as well as Snohomish County Fire District 1.
The
Terrace-Brier Lions Club meets the second and fourth
Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at Ellersick Brewing Company, 5030 208th
Street SW, Suite A, Lynnwood, WA 98036. You can contact this
Lions Club at TerraceBrier@lions19b.com.
