Dance Immersion Participants Crafting - Summer 2018

Good News!

Up to 6 participants are allowed inside the studio, with masks. Group classes are still being held virtually allowing participants to chose between ON-SITE class or VIRTUAL class registration with a few exceptions that are ON-SITE ONLY.

As always our excellent instructors provide a structured approach to dance, with emphasis on technique, creativity, and building self-esteem.

Summer Session #2 Schedule

Creative Dance ON-SITE only (Ages 3-4)

Kids get to jump, wiggle and shake with other boys and girls. Props and games are prepared to entice dancers to express themselves imaginatively while learning to follow directions and take turns. Children are encourage to make individual choices and work as a group. This class is for on-site participants only. Parents will be required to wait outside the building after drop off but the external studio door will be open for discrete viewing.

Build strength, flexibility and grace in a non-competitive, encouraging environment. These traditional classes focus on ballet vocabulary, correct alignment, and finding personal expression within the form. Barre-work and center floor exercises will be explored in an appropriate way for each level. Students may be place in a different level after evaluation in the first week of classes.

Pre-Ballet (Ages 5-7)

Learn basic ballet positions, preparatory steps and creative dance exercises for a well-rounded dance experience. Musicality and classroom etiquette are emphasized in a friendly encouraging environment.

Ballet I (Ages 6-9)

Learn classical ballet, healthy alignment and  personal self expression through movement. Creative dance exercises finish the hour for a well-rounded dance experience. Musicality and classroom etiquette are emphasized in a friendly encouraging environment.

This class if for kids going into 6th grade and up with at least 2 years of ballet experience.

Open level Ballet (Adult / Teen)

Open level Ballet is for adults and mature teens interested in fun and hard work. Class will include a breakdown of most things but also will move at a fast enough pace to get a good workout.

Tap Dance

Tap (Adult/Teen)

This fun and inspiring dance form is great for balance, agility, musicality and provides a great opportunity for self-expression as you work your way through articulations of the feet and fun routines. This class is for returning students and ambitious beginners with past experience. Instructor: Kathryn Hightower

Dance Academy Mission Statement

Dress Code

In General:

1. Never wear your dance shoes outside. Always change your shoes and use them in your designated dance space.

2. Everyone's hair must be secured off their face so they can focus on learning to move.

3. Jeans and other non flexible fabrics are not appropriate for dance.

Creative Dance

Boys- sweats or shorts and a solid, plain t-shirt, bare feet

Girls - any color leotard, footless tights or leggings, bare feet

Pre-Ballet & Ballet I -VI

Boys- solid, plain t-shirt, black tights or leggings, black leather ballet shoes

Girls - black leotard, pink tights, pink leather ballet shoes

Level II - VI must have their hair in a bun. Pre-Ballet & level I are practicing buns every week.

Tap & Ballet

Boys - solid, plain t-shirt, black leggings, black leather ballet shoes & black tap shoes

Girls - black leotard, pink tights, pink leather ballet shoes, hair in a ponytail or bun

Tap / Jazz / Lyrical

Everyone - black jazz pants, solid, plaint t-shirt or leotard

Tap shoes, Jazz shoes, bare feet or foot undies - respectively
