Steve Woodard

City Council
Title: Councilmember
Councilmember Steve Woodard Smaller

Steve and his spouse/best friend, Liz, joined the Mountlake Terrace community with their family in 2004. Their two children, Alex and Annabeth, have grown up here, equally as active in the community as their parents. Except for two years in a bilingual school in Spain, where their parents taught, both kids attended Terrace Park Elementary (Go Wolves!), Brier Terrace Middle (Go Bulldogs!) and Mountlake Terrace High (Go Hawks!).

Volunteerism and public service are core values and practices in Liz’s and Steve’s respective extended family. Both have continued to add to their family tradition. Whereas Liz is a science teacher in the Edmonds School District, examples of Steve’s advocacy/activism, specifically, include serving on the Teachers of Color Foundation Board (2016-2019), the MLT Library Board (2014-2016), and the MLT Recreation and Parks Advisory Commission (2016-2019).

Steve currently serves as the Dean of Access and Completion at Edmonds Community College. He has been engaged in teaching and college administration for over twenty-five years. Steve has also served as a church youth group advisor, coach for his kids’ teams, and volunteer in the Edmonds School District.
